Whatever Wednesday: National Rescue Dog Day!

Hello Posse!

Today is National Rescue Dog Day! Being the proud owner of a wonderful, sweet, rescue pup myself, I just had to share some great ways to celebrate today! If you have a wonderful rescue dog in your life, you can share your story on social media. Just be sure to use the tag #NationalRescueDogDay. Be sure to share your rescue dog photos with us as well. Just drop them in the comments. We would love to see your furbabies!

NationalRescueDogDay.com (<--- click here) has some great suggestions on ways you can celebrate this day and help out those dogs who are still in need of finding their forever homes.

How to celebrate rescue dog day:

  • ADOPT: It is always better to adopt a rescue dog in need than to buy a dog.

  • FOSTER: Many shelter dogs benefit from the socialization they can get in a foster care situation. Even if they are just in your care for a short while, they tend to thrive better away from the shelter environment.

  • VOLUNTEER: If you can't foster in your home, you can help out by taking dogs for walks, giving baths and grooming them, and just spending time with the animals to help them socialize more is a huge benefit to their mental and emotional well-being in a shelter setting.

  • DONATE: Shelters always in need. Besides financial donations, shelters always have a list of supplies they need such as blankets, collars, toys, food and treats, and leashes. Just all your local shelter to find out what they need.

  • SPAY/NEUTER: Overpopulation is the number one reason shelters exist. Help put a stop to it by doing your part.

Now go out and spend some time with a rescue dog today, you will not regret it!

Take care,

FYI: for those who are asking why we started adding (<--- click here) next to links in the blogs. We have had a few people comment that they are not seeing the color changes in the font that shows where the links are so we are just trying to make it as obvious as possible for everyone.
