Whatever Wednesday: Thursday Edition!

Hello Posse,

As you can see, I forgot something yesterday. So we are getting out the Whatever Wednesday blog a day late. Considering how bad I used to be about doing blogs at all, I think I'm doing much better with only forgetting one once in a great while now.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I know people have mixed feelings about this holiday. Many people feel pressure to make this holiday super romantic and worry about not having enough money to give their love what they are hoping for on this holiday.

The great thing is, romance does not have to be expensive. Some of the most romantic gestures don't cost you anything at all but some time and a little effort. You can make someone breakfast in bed, take over their chores at home, surprise them at the office by bringing them lunch, sneak love notes into a lunch you packed for them to take to work if you can't go there, bake their favorite cookies, give them a massage. These are all great romantic gestures that will not destroy a budget.

This year my husband and I are writing each other love letters as our gifts. I know some people have trouble writing things like this so I thought I would help you out with a few pointers I found online.

Writing a letter:

The website ArtOfManliness.com offers these suggestions for writing a love letter to woo a woman. However, I think these guidelines would work for a woman to write a love letter to a man just as well as they work for a man to write a letter to a woman.

  1. Start off by stating the purpose of your letter.

  2. Recall a romantic memory.

  3. Transition to a section about the things you love about her/him.

  4. Tell her all the things you love about her/him.

  5. Tell her how your life has changed since meeting her/him.

  6. Reaffirm your love and commitment.

  7. End with a line that sums up your love.

You can visit their website by following this link for more in depth explanations and examples. They have a lot of interesting information on this website that could be helpful in many varied social situations.

I personally love adding a poem I have found that sums up my general feelings. It was kismet that I happened to fall for a man from Chile seeing as how some of my favorite love poems are by Pablo Neruda, a Chilean poet. You can check out some great gifs below and more of his poetry here.

I hope these things are helpful and you all have a wonderful, relaxing Valentine's Day with loved ones!

Enjoy!

Dianne
